Marc
Deon began compiling music for neighborhood
parties at the age of 9. His passion
for music intensified throughout his
teen years and at 17 he landed his first
professional gigs spinning on the West
Palm Beach circuit. It was here that
his first lessons in the fine art of
the mix would begin. With the aid of
Technics1200's, he quickly mastered club
mixing and by 19 had landed a residency
at Respectable Street Cafe, a local hotspot.
From 1990 to 1993,
Marc presented the best in upfront dance
music to enthusiastic club-goers who traveled
from all over the Sunshine State to hear
him spin. He spent the majority of '92 and
'93 on the road, performing at raves and
one-offs across Florida including Miami,
Gainsville & Orlando. By 1994 Marc had
relocated to Orlando and began shifting
his music career into high gear, co-founding
Eighth Dimension Records (Orlando's premier
Dance/Electronica Label) and securing his
second residency at the legendary Ultraviolet.
It was in this space that Marc was able
to fully realize his signature Deep House
sound: a seamless blend of New York &
Miami house infused with San Francisco funk
and European progressive house & techno
- a combination that has brought him to
clubs throughout the U.S. and abroad.
Marc left Eighth Dimension
in 1996 and spent the next two years in
the studio programming and recording for
several East Coast labels including Eros
Euphony, Sunkissed, Rhythmflow and New York's
Nervous Records. These widely acclaimed
studio productions would eventually be recognized
as the foundation upon which he would build
his own studio, MD's Music Exchange. The
studio was completed in 1999 and the label,
MDEX Recordings, has produced fifteen releases
to date including, "Free-fall"
(MDEX0512) and "Candyflip" (MDEX0712).
Now residing in New York after time abroad,
Marc continues to compose original works
and his DJ sets remain in steady demand.
Having always had an ear for up & coming
talent, MDEX Recordings has now expanded
to include original & remix works from
fresh new artists like Bumper (The Netherlands),
RaDaR (Israel) and Christian Paduraru
(Romania) as well as local & personal
faves such as DJ Naz (In House Records)
and Chad Mitchell (Roam Recordings).
